Red Cross officially closes fund-raiser

JAKARTA: Chairwoman of West Jakarta's Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Anny Fadjar Panjaitan officially closed the branch's fund- raising campaign on Thursday.

"Don't buy coupons offered in conjunction with the fund-raiser because the campaign has been closed," she said.

The branch cooperated with government offices, companies, schools and universities, health clinics, hospitals and cinemas in collecting the funds.

In three months, Anny revealed, the branch had collected more than Rp 779 million (US$87,528), an increase of 35.8 percent, compared with the amount of Rp 573 million collected in the same period last year.

She added that 10 percent of the fund will be contributed to the PMI Jakarta provincial office, 15 percent to the blood transfusion unit, while the remaining 75 percent to support the branch's activities to mitigate the adverse impact of flood and natural disasters. -- JP
