Red Bird's Eye Chilli Prices Hit Rp73,700 per Kilogram Today, 8 June 2026
The National Strategic Food Price Information Centre (PIHPS), managed by Bank Indonesia, has released an update on red bird’s eye chilli prices for today, 8 June 2026. The data, collected as of 10:50 WIB, indicates that prices for red bird’s eye chilli have reached Rp73,700 per kilogram, alongside a continuing trend of high prices for cooking oil at the retail level nationwide.
This price surge is accompanied by increases in other chilli varieties, with large red chillies priced at Rp60,800 per kg and curly red chillies at Rp56,500 per kg. Regarding animal protein, chicken egg prices remained stable at Rp29,700 per kg, while premium quality beef reached Rp146,300 per kg.
Other essential commodities such as rice also show varying prices based on quality. Medium-grade rice I is currently averaging Rp16,000 per kg, while super-grade rice I has surpassed Rp17,100 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of bulk cooking oil remains high at Rp20,950 per litre.
Rising prices for kitchen staples, including shallots at Rp56,150 per kg and garlic at Rp40,850 per kg, are increasing household expenditure burdens. The public is advised to remain vigilant regarding these price fluctuations, particularly for branded packaged cooking oil, which has now reached Rp24,150 per litre.
