The price of red bird’s eye chilli today, 19 June 2026, has reached Rp100,000 per kilogram at the national retail level, based on data released by the National Strategic Food Price Information Centre managed by Bank Indonesia. Besides red bird’s eye chilli, chicken eggs are also in the spotlight with an average price of Rp29,700 per kg. This increase is followed by other kitchen spices, with shallots priced at Rp60,650 per kg and garlic reaching Rp40,000 per kg. In the staple food sector, rice prices are observed to vary by quality. Medium I quality rice stands at Rp16,500 per kg, while medium II quality is higher at Rp18,000 per kg. For the premium category, super I quality rice is set at Rp18,150 per kg. Meanwhile, cooking oil continues to show a fairly high price trend. Branded packaged cooking oil I is sold for Rp24,400 per litre, while branded packaged II is at Rp23,600 per litre. For sweeteners, local granulated sugar is recorded as stable at Rp20,000 per kg, slightly different from the premium quality which reaches Rp20,400 per kg. The rise in red bird’s eye chilli and shallot prices is predicted to put pressure on volatile food inflation in June. A staple food trader at Nagoya market, Lubuk Baja District, Yuk Siah, 33, said the prices of several commodities are still fluctuating depending on supply from distributors.
