Red and White Village Cooperatives to Become Central Hub for Government Programme Distribution

The President of the Republic of Indonesia led a limited meeting with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (23/7/2026). During the meeting, which lasted around three and a half hours, the President sought to accelerate the strengthening of the Red and White Village Cooperatives, Red and White Kelurahan Cooperatives, and Red and White Fisherfolk Cooperatives as drivers of the community economy.

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) said the President had instructed all ministries and agencies to give their full support to the development of the Red and White Cooperatives. That support also involves the TNI and Polri to ensure the programme can run optimally across all regions.

“The President is making sure that the Red and White Village Cooperatives, Red and White Kelurahan Cooperatives, and Red and White Fisherfolk Cooperatives are supported by all ministries and agencies, as well as by the TNI and Polri, which have been asked to help fully support the Red and White Village/Kelurahan Cooperatives to succeed — first, as government infrastructure, and second, as off-takers,” said Zulhas in a press statement after the meeting.

According to Zulhas, President Prabowo Subianto has designated the Red and White Cooperatives as the distribution hub for various government programmes. All subsidised goods and government assistance, he said, will henceforth be channelled through the cooperatives so that distribution becomes more integrated and better targeted.

“Government infrastructure means that all subsidised goods and government aid items will later be distributed through the Red and White Village Cooperatives or Red and White Kelurahan Cooperatives,” said Zulhas.
