Red and White Precision Expedition to Reach 17 Outermost Points in Riau
Riau Regional Police will launch the 2026 Presisi Red and White Expedition, targeting 17 points across various parts of Riau. The expedition focuses on frontier, outermost and underdeveloped (3T) areas.
Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan said the programme forms part of efforts to strengthen national spirit, enhance social awareness and promote environmental preservation in coastal areas.
He made the remarks whilst in dialogue with residents of Concong Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency, ahead of the expedition’s send-off, scheduled to take place at Riau Provincial Police Headquarters on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
Inspector General Herry said the activity forms part of the commemorations of the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as a moment to revive the spirit of struggle and nationalism within society.
“As we enter the month of independence, everyone wishes to revive the values of struggle of the nation’s founders. That spirit must be passed on to the younger generation so they can contribute to development towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Inspector General Herry on Thursday (30 July 2026).
According to him, the Presisi Red and White Expedition will involve various elements, from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to regional governments, university students and community groups. During the expedition, the convoy will visit 17 locations across a number of regencies and cities in Riau, particularly villages situated in 3T areas.
Beyond carrying the spirit of nationalism, the activity will also feature dialogues with local communities, the distribution of social assistance, civic education and environmental preservation campaigns.
“We want to be present directly among the people to listen to their aspirations, whilst inviting all elements to help protect nature. A well-maintained environment is part of our responsibility to future generations,” said Herry.
He added that the coastal areas targeted by the expedition will also receive attention through various conservation actions, including mangrove planting as a step to reduce the impact of abrasion whilst safeguarding coastal ecosystems.
On that occasion, the Regional Police Chief also reminded of the importance of improving digital literacy among the younger generation. According to him, the use of social media must be done wisely so as not to trigger division or the spread of information harmful to society.
Herry also called on religious leaders, customary leaders, community figures and young people to jointly strengthen unity, maintain neighbourhood security and shield the younger generation from drug abuse and other negative influences.
He hopes the Presisi Red and White Expedition will not merely be a ceremonial affair, but will deliver tangible benefits to communities in Riau’s coastal and remote areas.
“This activity also strengthens love of the homeland and care for the environment as a legacy for the future,” he said.
