Red and White Precision Bridge Inaugurated, Riau Residents No Longer Face Crossing Difficulties
Pekanbaru – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inaugurated the Red and White Precision Bridge in Riau Province on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. The bridge is expected to facilitate access for residents, particularly for education and economic activities.
The bridge construction forms part of efforts supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen connectivity in regions previously constrained by geographical conditions.
The National Police Chief stated that the bridge construction addresses the needs of residents who have long experienced difficulties in daily activities, including schoolchildren who had to undertake lengthy journeys or cross rivers.
In Riau alone, a total of 110 bridges are being constructed. Of this number, 27 bridges have been completed and inaugurated, whilst the remainder are still under construction.
“I have also received reports from several other regions, with approximately 411 bridges currently under construction nationally, and Riau’s police force is amongst those with the most projects,” said the National Police Chief.
He expressed hope that the bridge’s existence would deliver direct benefits to residents, both in terms of education and economic improvement as distribution access becomes easier.
On the same occasion, DPR Commission IV Chair Siti Hediati, known as Titiek Soeharto, commended the National Police’s initiative, which was deemed capable of delivering concrete solutions to the community.
“This is concrete work. Its impact is directly felt by residents, particularly schoolchildren and economic activities in villages,” she said.
The bridge inauguration also featured dialogue between the National Police Chief, government officials, and residents. Residents and students shared their direct experiences before and after the bridge’s completion, including regarding educational access and transportation.
Meanwhile, Riau’s Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan emphasised that the bridge construction represents efforts to deliver tangible benefits to residents.
“This construction is a manifestation of state presence reaching communities in need, whilst simultaneously strengthening connectivity and social life,” he said.
He added that the construction also represents a mandate to ensure the state truly reaches communities in genuine need.
“This construction is a mandate. A mandate to ensure the state reaches communities genuinely in need. This is where the face of Precision Police presence manifests itself concretely,” said the Regional Police Chief.
