Red and White Fishermen's Village Project in Mataram Targeted for Completion by Year-End
The development of the Red and White Fishermen’s Village (KNMP) in Bintaro, Ampenan, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is targeted for completion by the end of this year. The project, undertaken by the central government, has a budget of Rp 11 billion.
“The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) is only providing the land. The physical construction, supervision, and other aspects are handled by the central government,” said the Head of the Mataram City Marine and Fisheries Office (DKP), Bachtiar Yulianto, on Friday (8/5/2026).
According to Bachtiar, the KNMP in the coastal area will be equipped with various facilities, one of which is a cooling room for storing fish caught by the fishermen.
“The presence of this Fishermen’s Village is expected to improve the welfare and supporting infrastructure for fishermen in the Bintaro area and surroundings,” Bachtiar hoped.
The Secretary of Mataram City (Sekda), Lalu Alwan Basri, stated that the KNMP in Bintaro will become a modern fisheries economic centre. The facilities are designed to be integrated with fishermen’s housing in simple rental apartments (rusunawa).
“This Red and White Fishermen’s Village will become a unified ecosystem for the small-scale fishing industry in Mataram City,” Alwan said.
