Medan (ANTARA) – The Rector of Medan State University (Unimed), Prof. Baharuddin, urged the university’s graduates to become agents of change who bring solutions to a range of societal challenges and capable of creating employment opportunities. ‘Be a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also wise in action, resilient in facing change, and with a strong commitment to contribute to the progress of the nation and humanity,’ he said at the graduation ceremony for 899 graduates of the university in Medan on Wednesday. He said it must be realised that Indonesia is currently at a crucial phase in its journey toward the Indonesia Golden 2045 vision. In recent months, he said, the direction of national education policy has increasingly underscored the importance of transforming learning to be adaptive to technological developments, especially the use of artificial intelligence, strengthening digital literacy, and increasing the relevance of higher education to the needs of the job market and global industry. Through the integration of education, research, and community service, students are equipped not only with academic competencies but also with values of integrity, leadership, social responsibility, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Based on this, he asked the graduates to present themselves as resilient, agile, adaptable individuals with a lifelong-learning mindset. Additionally, they should maintain communication and ties with Unimed and fellow graduates wherever they are through the Universitas Negeri Medan Alumni Association (Ikatan Alumni Universitas Negeri Medan).
