Rector: Programme Accreditation Serves as Motivation to Deliver Higher Quality Education
The ‘Excellent’ accreditation is not merely a title, but a recognition of the long process and collaborative effort of the entire academic community in maintaining and enhancing the quality of education.
Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Rector of Widya Mataram University (UWM) Yogyakarta, Professor Edy Suandi Hamid, stated that the ‘Excellent’ accreditation status achieved by two study programmes within the university’s Faculty of Economics must serve as motivation to continue delivering increasingly high-quality higher education.
“This achievement of excellent accreditation must be a motivation to continuously implement improvements and provide higher quality higher education,” said the Rector of Ulam in Yogyakarta on Friday.
Two programmes at the UWM Yogyakarta Faculty of Economics, namely the Entrepreneurship Study Programme and the Management Study Programme, have achieved the ‘Excellent’ accreditation status from the Independent Accreditation Agency for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (LAMEMBA).
According to Edy, the achievement of the highest accreditation level by these two programmes marks an important milestone for the university in strengthening its academic quality.
“Excellent accreditation is not just a predicate, but a recognition of the long process and collective work of the entire academic community in maintaining and improving the quality of education,” he said.
Edy noted that the excellent accreditation serves as evidence that the campus is continuously moving to strengthen the quality of educational delivery, while also serving as vital capital in increasing public trust and enhancing the competitiveness of graduates.
With these two ‘Excellent’ accreditation achievements by 2026, he added, UWM is further asserting its commitment to sustainable transformation towards becoming an excellent and character-driven university.
Furthermore, he continued, this achievement serves as an incentive for all study programmes within the university environment to continuously improve quality and achieve the best quality standards.
“For us, achieving accreditation is not the end of the process, but part of an ongoing effort to prepare graduates who are competent, have integrity, are adaptive, and are capable of providing real contributions to society and development,” said Edy.
He expressed hope that the campus would remain committed to continuous quality improvement, through the strengthening of governance, learning quality, lecturer competence, curriculum, research, community service, student achievements, and the development of collaborative networks.
“I hope that the recognition, which has undergone document assessment and field visits by LAMEMBA assessors, will increase public confidence, thereby attracting more prospective students to study at UWM,” said Edy.
