Rector Forum to form corruption watchdogs
PALU, Central Sulawesi: The provincial branch of Rector Forum will launch a corruption watchdog body here next month to ensure clean governance in Central Sulawesi.
"It is part of the forum's consistency to embark on a reform agenda," Main Labaso, an assistant rector at Tadulako University in Palu, said on Monday, adding that similar watchdogs had been planned in other provinces.
That Indonesia had been ranked one of the world's most corrupt countries encouraged the forum to set up an anti-corruption body, he said.
Labaso said members of the planned watchdog would include academics, individuals, activists and community and religious figures, all from independent and credible organizations.
Police, prosecutors and other officials from related agencies would also be involved as working partners, he added.
Labaso, quoting data from unidentified sources, said Central Sulawesi was rated Indonesia's third most corrupt province after Jakarta and Medan. --Antara
