Recruitment of civil servants

Recruitment of civil servants

From Bisnis Indonesia

State Minister of Administrative Reforms Feisal Tamin was
right when briefing officials of echelons I and II in Banten's
provincial administration recently.

He stressed that the recruitment of civil servants must not be
linked to a person's ethnicity, religion, racial origin or
ideology as in this respect the priority lies in his capability
and professionalism.

Unfortunately, the recruitment of civil servants within
ministries or regional administrations, despite setting standard
requirements such as age, diploma and other supporting factors,
still requires a local residential identity card and that the
candidate is indigenous to the place where the civil service job
is being offered.

Aren't civil servants expected to serve the public regardless
of any regional, party or ideological labeling?
