Reconstruction of Chicken Thief Mob Attack in Tabanan Completed, No New Facts Found
Tabanan Police have completed the reconstruction of the mob attack against a suspected chicken thief who was killed by a crowd in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District. During the reconstruction, which demonstrated 18 scenes, the police found no new facts and will immediately transfer the case files of the five suspects to the Tabanan District Attorney’s Office.
The reconstruction was held at the Tabanan Police Headquarters courtyard on Thursday (17/09/2026). The Chief of Tabanan Police, AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati, stated that the activity lasted approximately three hours, from 10:00 to 13:00 WITA.
The reconstruction was attended by representatives from the Tabanan District Attorney’s Office, legal counsel for the suspects, witnesses, and the five identified suspects.
According to Bayu, a reconstruction does not necessarily have to take place at the original crime scene. The police chose the Tabanan Police Headquarters courtyard, creating a simulation that closely resembled the conditions at the crime scene.
“A reconstruction can be held anywhere. We simulated it as if it were at the crime scene. It does not have to be in Juwuk Legi,” said Bayu Pati.
He explained that the decision to hold the reconstruction at the Tabanan Police Headquarters was made for time efficiency. Transporting all suspects to the actual crime scene was deemed to require more time and increased security measures. The decision to conduct the reconstruction at the police station was also agreed upon with the prosecution.
From the 18 scenes demonstrated, the police have not found any new facts. All suspects have also signed the reconstruction official report.
“For now, there are no new facts. Each suspect has signed the official report of the reconstruction,” said Bayu.
Bayu added that there were no additional inputs or objections from the prosecution during the reconstruction process.
Following the completion of the reconstruction, investigators are preparing to transfer the case files to the Tabanan District Attorney’s Office. The police aim to transfer the files for the five suspects within this week, provided there are no obstacles.
“If there are no hindrances, it will be transferred this week. We are targeting this to happen as soon as possible,” he emphasised.
The mob attack previously occurred in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District, in July 2026. A chicken thief was killed by a mob after being caught attempting to steal a fighting chicken belonging to a local resident.
During the police investigation, five individuals were subsequently named as suspects in the mob attack.
