Reconciliation in Ambon

It is time the people of Ambon and surroundings start working
side-by-side to restore peace. People outside Ambon should stop
yelling slogans to incite island residents to continue fighting
their own brothers and sisters. People living in Ambon should be
able to restrain themselves.

We must give the security apparatus a chance to restore law
and order in the area. Those who violate the law must be
punished; this must include misbehaving members of the security
forces. In this way, people will feel that they are being
protected and that social accord and security are assured. It is
in the interest of us all that peace and order are restored, in
Ambon and in Maluku in general.
