Reconciled with Jokowi, Rismon's Fate Remains Uncertain! Case Not Yet Halted
Jakarta, VIVA – Efforts to resolve the controversy over allegations regarding the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, alias Jokowi, continue to unfold. Although the suspect, digital forensics expert Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, has reconciled with Jokowi’s camp, the legal process has not fully stopped.
Metro Jaya Police have emphasised that the restorative justice (RJ) application submitted by Rismon is still in the processing stage and has not yet been decided. Police state that the RJ mechanism cannot be automatically approved even if reconciliation has been reached between the complainant and the respondent.
“This is still in the processing stage. So, in the restorative justice stage, there is an application from the suspect to the victim or complainant,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Friday, 10 April 2026.
According to him, the RJ stage must be followed in a stepwise manner. A reconciliation agreement serves as the initial gateway, but it does not guarantee that the case will be automatically halted.
“If it is approved and meets the restorative justice requirements, then restorative justice will be carried out,” he said.
He emphasised that to date, there has been no final decision regarding the application submitted by Rismon. The entire process is still ongoing and awaiting the results of the case review by investigators.
“So I ask all friends, we are still waiting because the case process is still running,” said Budi.
Previously reported, digital forensics expert Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar submitted a restorative justice application related to the alleged fake diploma case of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
This was confirmed by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin. He said the restorative justice application letter was submitted last week.
“Last week, the restorative justice application was submitted,” he said on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Iman added that today the individual in question visited Metro Jaya Police Headquarters with his lawyer. This was to inquire about the progress of the restorative justice he applied for. Similar steps had previously been taken by two suspects in this case, namely Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis.
“RHS (Rismon) along with his lawyer today inquired about the letter that was previously submitted,” he said.
In this case, Metro Jaya Police have divided it into two clusters. The first cluster consists of five suspects, namely Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Damai Hari Lubis, Rustam Effendi, and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah.
