Police revealed that HM (25), the driver of a black Toyota Calya, was driving recklessly and against traffic, causing multiple collisions in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, and was heading to Ancol for a holiday. The driver told investigators that he had departed from Karawang.

“He said he was going from Karawang to Ancol for a holiday,” said the Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Komarudin, on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Komarudin stated that the driver was travelling with a female passenger. The handling of the case has now been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jakarta Pusat Police, concerning matters beyond traffic violations.

“We interrogated him last night. The passenger did not have any identification, no ID card or anything. That’s why we handed the case over to the Criminal Investigation Unit,” he added.

Two People Injured

“So far, we have identified two victims last night. But both have returned home, and they only sustained minor injuries,” said the Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Komarudin.

In addition to the injured, there was also material damage. Komarudin said that several vehicles were damaged as a result of the reckless driving.

“In terms of material losses, there were several vehicles that we saw on camera that were quite damaged,” he said.
