Rebels and Perkasa enter cricket semifinals

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

The stage is set for an exciting finish to the 2003-2004 JCA
season, with Rebels Cricket Club securing the last spot in the
semifinals, having defeated West Jawa Wanderers by 158 runs.

Winning the toss, the Rebels decided to bat and put up a huge
total of 293 for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 35 overs,
with some big scores by Chad Paul (83), an unbeaten 96 by Matthew
Hegarty and 46 by Peter Coombs, on Sunday.

The West Jawa Wanderers did not have a good start, losing
wickets at regular intervals to some fine bowling by Rebel
bowlers, and were bowled out in 26 overs for just 135. Vipan
Chawla was top scorer for the Wanderers with 32, M K Suresh
picked up two wickets while Audie Ripoll nicknamed JR picked up 4
for the Rebels.

With the last of the quarterfinals now played, it will be a
battle for the finals, with Rebels taking on ISCI and Perkasa CC
taking on Indorama CC in the semifinals this weekend.

In the plate semifinals, Country Woods forfeited their game to
India XI and Senayan CC beat Rebdoers CC by 215 runs. Senayan CC,
batting first, put up a massive total of 300 for 4 in their
allotted 35 overs with runs scored by Mustafa Rangwala (78),
Hiren Patel (40) and an unbeaten 40 from Sachin Gopalan and
Deepak.

The Rebdoers did not take off well and were bowled out for 85
in 22 overs. The finals for the plate competition will be played
on April 25.
