BANGKOK (AFP): Cambodian rebel Prince Norodom Chakrapong, forced out of Phnom Penh July 3 in the wake of an abortive coup d'etat, has left Thailand for France, Thai Foreign Minister Prasong Soonsiri confirmed yesterday.
Prince Chakrapong had arrived in Bangkok on Thursday from Malaysia where he sought refuge after the coup bid.
Analysts said Prince Chakrapong's stay could have proved embarrassing to Thailand, which has had troubled relations with neighboring Cambodia for some time.
A serious continuing problem involves 14 Thais detained in Phnom Penh since July 3 on suspicion they were involved in the attempted coup.
