Reasons Why the Indonesian Army is Starting to Farm in Villages | Brigade Podcast
JAKARTA, Kompas.com - The Army Information Service Chief, Brigadier General TNI Wahyu Yudayana, emphasised that the Indonesian Army does not only serve in combat but also carries out its primary territorial function of directly accompanying and assisting the community. Activities such as entering rice fields, supporting health programmes, and bolstering food security are part of legitimate non-war military operations as mandated by law. Responding to accusations that the state is being led towards militarism due to the TNI’s presence in civilian areas, Brigadier General Wahyu explained, “We are filling the empty spaces where the government or related agencies, institutions, or ministries cannot reach there.”
