The Indonesian State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, has revealed the reasons behind President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to reshuffle the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He explained that the Head of State has issued several critical notes regarding the agency’s performance.

“Certainly, following one and a half years of monitoring and evaluation, there have been many observations that served as the President’s basis for considering these changes, with the hope that these issues can be rectified immediately,” said Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Prasetyo explained that one of the President’s primary reasons for replacing the three BGN leaders involved disciplinary issues regarding the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) for food governance. “Some issues pertain to discipline in executing SOPs, others relate to discipline in governance, including the discipline required to maintain the food quality that should have been established by the National Nutrition Agency,” he stated, adding that these factors were the basis for consideration over the past 18 months.

The State Secretary noted that President Prabowo expects the new BGN leadership to address these shortcomings. Furthermore, the President hopes the new officials can accelerate the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme—a flagship government priority—while improving organisational governance to deliver tangible benefits to the public, particularly in enhancing nutrition, health, and Indonesia’s human resources.

As background, President Prabowo Subianto has officially removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency. The announcement, made by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, has drawn significant public attention as Dadan was widely recognised for leading the preparations for the MBG programme, a cornerstone of the Prabowo-Gibran administration. “Today, Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the President has made the decision to replace the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency,” said Prasetyo Hadi, also announcing changes to other positions within the BGN.
