Reasons Why PPSU Handled JAKI Report on Illegal Parking in Kalisari, Not the Transportation Department
JAKARTA - The Ward Head of Kalisari, Siti Nurhasanah, has revealed the reasons why Public Facilities and Infrastructure Officers (PPSU) followed up on a report of illegal parking via the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app in Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.
The follow-up has come under public spotlight because it was suspected of being fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI).
Siti explained that, based on the latest regulations, handling illegal parking should be the responsibility of the Sub-District Transportation Department.
“Yes, previously, the follow-up was done because we were still using the old regulations. The PPSU might not have been informed about the new rules yet. If we were to refer it to the Transportation Department, it would just be sent back. That’s their assumption,” Siti said when contacted by telephone on Tuesday (7/6/2026).
It is known that the duties of PPSU include repairing potholed roads in the ward area, repairing and painting kerbs, fixing damaged road barriers in the ward area, repairing damaged or potholed pavements in the ward area, as well as handling public facilities and drainage infrastructure.
Siti also expressed an apology for the follow-up to the report that was suspected of being fabricated with AI.
She stated that the incident serves as a lesson for her staff.
“We apologise profusely for the incident; this is a lesson for us so that it does not happen again in the future,” she said.
Furthermore, Siti admitted that she does not know the exact reasons why the PPSU used AI in following up on the illegal parking report.
“So, I can’t comment much because we’re waiting for the results from the official report. I also haven’t met the PPSU because our rooms are separate,” she clarified.
Previously, a netizen complained about illegal parking on residential streets in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.
The owner of the Threads account @seinsh stated that residents had reported the illegal parking issue up to the ward level.
Residents also reported it via the JAKI app. However, the report was said to remain unresolved.
“How do you handle illegal parking issues on ward roads? Residents protesting directly to the perpetrators didn’t work, reporting to the ward level didn’t resolve it, trying to report via JAKI resulted in fake evidence from AI edits,” she wrote in the post.
Now, the PPSU officer who uploaded the photo of the follow-up report via the JAKI app using AI has been given a first warning sanction (SP1).
