The Karanganyar Resort Police have revealed the reasons behind the cessation of a youth camping activity held in the Watu Gambir Karangpandan area, Karanganyar Regency, on Friday, 5 June 2026. The event, organised by the Ahmadiyah Indonesia Congregation (JAI), was scheduled to run until Sunday, 7 June 2026.

Karanganyar Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Arman Sahti, stated that the decision to halt the camping activities at the BUMDes Watu Gambir tourist area was carried out through a persuasive and dialogic approach, prioritising public security and order.

According to Arman, the Karanganyar Police received information from the public on Friday, 5 June 2026, at approximately 1:35 PM WIB, regarding a camping activity involving a significant number of participants in the Watu Gambir tourist area. Following up on this information, the Police Chief, along with the site manager, the Head of Karang Village, and the Karangpandan District Head, visited the location to conduct inspections and coordinate with the organisers.

During the open dialogue, Arman noted that it was discovered the activity had not obtained the required permits in accordance with applicable regulations. “We then conveyed various considerations regarding security, public order, and the importance of fulfilling licensing procedures when organising activities involving many participants,” he said when contacted by Tempo on Saturday, 6 June 2026.

Arman explained that the entire process was conducted humanely without repressive measures. Through effective communication, the organisers understood and accepted the feedback provided by the authorities and local government officials.

As a result of this mutual understanding, the organisers agreed not to proceed with the camping activities, and participants returned to their respective regions to ensure the situation remained safe, orderly, and conducive.

Arman also expressed appreciation for the cooperative attitude of all parties involved in resolving the matter. He noted that the synergy between the police, village government, district government, site managers, and the community is key to maintaining security stability in the Karanganyar Regency area.

Following the cessation of the event, Arman stated that no further activities were taking place. “We hope this situation provides a sense of safety and comfort for the community, especially since Karanganyar is a tourist area that requires maintained stability,” he said.

The Karanganyar Police emphasised that they will continue to prioritise deliberation, communication, and preventive measures in handling various community issues to ensure that security and order are well-maintained.
