Reasons Why Cak Imin Says Hajj Waiting Ticket Concept is Ineffective
JAKARTA - The General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar, believes that the concept of a waiting ticket for Hajj implementation is not effective in Indonesia, especially if carried out in the near future.
“I haven’t seen that as effective,” he said when providing a statement after the Halal Bihalal event and Cadre Appreciation at the PKB DPP Office, Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026).
Cak Imin, his familiar nickname, noted that the Hajj queue system in Indonesia has been running for a very long time. Many prospective Hajj pilgrims are waiting for their turn to depart to the Holy Land.
If the Hajj waiting ticket system is implemented, Cak Imin fears that the waiting period for departing on Hajj will also be affected.
According to him, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which initiated the discussion of this concept, needs to consider the ummah whose waiting time is only short.
“They’ve already been queuing and only have five years left, it’s a pity. What about those who’ve queued and only have two years left?” said Cak Imin.
According to him, this Hajj waiting ticket concept still cannot be implemented in the near future.
Previously reported, the Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, highlighted the length of the current Hajj queue.
The statement was delivered at the Opening of the National Working Meeting for Consolidation of Hajj Worship Implementation 1447 H/2026 AD, at the Tangerang Hajj Dormitory, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
The Hajj queue is seen as an impact of the increasing number of registrants each year and the limited departure quota.
The Minister of Hajj stated that his side is beginning to reconsider whether the long queue still needs to be maintained.
“When we talk about the Hajj queue, our thinking at the Ministry of Hajj, especially the Deputy Minister, is whether such a long queue is necessary, or whether it shouldn’t be reconsidered before there was BPKH,” he said, as seen on the official Instagram account of the Ministry of Hajj @kemenhaj.ri.
He noted that before the existence of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the departure system did not experience long queues.
“This is not a policy this year, okay. Don’t miswrite it later. This is a city concept in accordance with the President’s orders on how to ensure there are no more queues,” said Dahnil.
