Reasons Thom Haye and Pattynama Excluded from National Team Squad for FIFA Series 2026

Coach John Herdman announced a 41-player squad for the Indonesian National Team’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA Series.

The 2026 FIFA Series schedule will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on 27 and 30 March 2026.

In addition to the Indonesian National Team, the tournament will also be contested by the Bulgarian National Team, the Solomon Islands National Team, and the Saint Kitts & Nevis National Team.

Indonesia is scheduled to face Saint Kitts & Nevis on 27 March 2026 at 20:00 WIB. On the same day, Bulgaria will meet the Solomon Islands at 15:30 WIB.

The winners of the two matches will meet in the final on 30 March 2026 at 20:00 WIB.

The losing team from the first match will play for third place at 15:30 WIB on the same day.

In the player list, Herdman recalled Ezra Walian and Elkan Baggott. These two players had previously been absent from the national team squad.

The midfielder previously entered the Indonesian squad in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualification for the Asian zone in November 2025.

At that time the national team was under the direction of Patrick Kluivert. In that phase Indonesia lost 0-1 to the Iraqi National Team and 2-3 to the Saudi Arabian National Team.

Haye was not called up for the 2026 FIFA Series due to FIFA sanctions. The same punishment was received by Shayne Pattynama.

The sanctions arose following an incident during Indonesia’s match against Iraq in the fourth round of qualification.

At that time Haye and Pattynama were deemed to have committed unsporting conduct towards the match officials.

Besides these two players, several other names also did not make the call-up list. Marselino Ferdinan was again not called up by the coaching staff.
