Reasons KPK Returns Yaqut to Detention Facility: To Be Examined Tomorrow
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The KPK has once again placed former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut in the detention facility for the purposes of examining the 2023-2024 Hajj corruption case. Previously, Yaqut’s detention status had been transferred to house arrest at the family’s request. “Indeed, tomorrow there is already a scheduled request for information from the individual,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu, when providing a statement at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Tuesday (24/3/2026). Asep stated that on Wednesday (25/3/2026), they would hold a press conference to report on the progress of the investigation into the alleged Hajj quota corruption case. Asep explained that Yaqut was only brought to the KPK Detention Facility today because on Monday (23/3/2026), Yaqut was still undergoing a health examination. “Why perhaps the process wasn’t done directly from yesterday, having to wait until today, because of course there are procedures that we must go through, namely conducting a health assessment,” he said. Yaqut has returned to being a detainee at the KPK Detention Facility after previously being on house arrest for several days. One week later, precisely on Thursday (19/3/2026), Yaqut was transferred to house arrest at his family’s request. The transfer of detention status was only announced by the KPK on Saturday (21/3/2026), coinciding with Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. After becoming a point of public attention, Yaqut was again transferred back to detention facility status as of Monday (23/3/2026). “Today, Monday, 23 March 2026, the KPK carried out the process of transferring the type of detention for Suspect Sdr. YCQ in the case of alleged criminal corruption in the Hajj quota, from house arrest back to KPK Detention Facility detention,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Monday night. In this case, Yaqut carried out several conditioning actions to regulate the 2023-2024 Hajj quota. Starting from changing regulations to technical implementation.
