Reasons KPK Briefly Detained Second Wife of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has explained the reasons for detaining the second wife of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby, Suci Nita Edwar, during a sting operation. ‘The second wife was briefly detained because when the team arrived at SA’s house, she was the only one found there as a witness in this case,’ said Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. He added that the KPK detained the regent’s second wife because she was using one of the vehicles that serves as evidence in the case. ‘We detained the regent’s second wife because, as it happens, the Pajero Sport was being used by the regent’s second wife, and the Pajero Sport’s status is no longer a lease because it is an older vehicle. It has been fully paid off,’ he said. Consequently, the KPK detained Suhardiman’s second wife to further investigate the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar, valued at Rp700 million, which is evidence in the alleged bribery case related to the buying and selling of the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department position in Kuansing in 2021. Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, detaining 10 individuals. This operation was the 14th OTT conducted by the KPK throughout 2026. Of that number, five people were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih building for intensive examination. They comprised three private sector parties, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and the regent’s wife, Suci Nitia Edwar. The KPK then requested that Suhardiman and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrender themselves on 30 June 2026. Both complied with the request and were picked up by investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in a bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the release of a limited production forest area.
