Reasons KPK Briefly Detained Second Wife of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby

The Corruption Eradification Commission (KPK) has explained the reasons behind the detention of Suci Nita Edwar, the second wife of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby (SA), during a sting operation (OTT).

“The second wife was indeed secured because what the field team found when visiting SA’s residence was only his wife, acting as a witness in this case,” stated the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.

Furthermore, Taufik stated that the KPK detained the Regent’s second wife because she was using one of the vehicles that serves as evidence in the case.

“The Regent’s second wife was also secured because, by chance, the Pajero Sport vehicle was being used by her. Regarding that Pajero Sport, it is no longer under a leasing agreement as it is an older vehicle that has been fully paid off,” he said.

Consequently, he noted that the KPK detained Suhardiman’s second wife to further investigate the Pajero Sport Dakar, valued at Rp700 million, which serves as evidence in the alleged bribery case involving the sale of positions for the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department in Kuansing in 2021.

Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, detaining 10 individuals. This operation marked the 14th sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.

Of those detained, five individuals were brought to the KPK Red and White Building for intensive interrogation. They consist of three private sector representatives, one civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nita Edwar.

The KPK subsequently requested that Suhardiman and the Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary, Zulkarnain, surrender themselves on 30 June 2026. Both complied with the request and were picked up by investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten.

On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in the alleged bribery case related to the sale of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government.

In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratifications related to the processing of the release of limited production forest areas.
