Reasons for MPR Deactivating Judges and MC in the Four Pillars Quiz Competition
JAKARTA - The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has deactivated the judging panel and the master of ceremonies (MC) in the Four Pillars Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level. This deactivation was carried out after a controversy arose regarding the scoring in the final round, where a participant’s correct answer was mistakenly marked wrong by the judges. “Regarding the widespread media coverage on social media about the 2026 Four Pillars Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level, concerning the scoring of a participant’s answer in one of the competition sessions, the organising committee from the MPR General Secretariat has deactivated the Judging Panel and MC for this Quiz Competition activity,” stated the official MPR announcement, quoted from the Instagram account @mprgoid, on Tuesday (12/5/2026). In addition to deactivating the judges and MC, the MPR also expressed apologies for the controversy resulting from the judges’ negligence. The reason for the MPR’s deactivation of the judging panel and MC is none other than to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition. In the same statement, the MPR pledged to evaluate aspects including technical matters, competition implementation, and scoring mechanisms. The evaluation also includes verification of participants’ answers and the management of objections in the competition. Furthermore, the MPR conveyed appreciation to all participants, accompanying teachers, local committees, and the public. They are said to have paid attention to this incident, particularly regarding national education and the implementation of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition. “Public input will serve as important evaluation material to maintain the quality of the activity and public trust in the inclusive, educational, and integrity-driven process of national learning,” stated the MPR. The event was participated in by nine senior high schools in West Kalimantan. The three schools that advanced to the final round were SMAN 1 Pontianak, SMAN 1 Sambas, and SMAN 1 Sanggau.
