Reasons Behind Lemhanas Organising DPRD Retreat at Akmil Magelang
Hundreds of chairs of the Regional People’s Representative Councils (DPRD) are attending a retreat organised by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java. One of the reasons for holding the event is to support government programmes at the local level.
Through the retreat, Lemhanas hopes that the DPRD chairs will take home a spirit of cross-sector collaboration and total commitment to national interests. The activity is also described as a strategic instrument to ensure the consistent and integrated implementation of the government’s Asta Cita.
Lemhanas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily stated that the main objective of the event is to enhance the capacity of DPRDs in facing national and regional development challenges. “Participants are encouraged to become strategic partners of local governments and agents of change,” said Ace in a statement quoted on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
According to Ace, the existence and glory of a nation are rooted in the integrity and capacity of its leaders. Therefore, Lemhanas, as a government institution, is organising the Regional Leadership Enhancement Course (KPPD) for DPRDs at the provincial, city, and regency levels.
Ace remarked that Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation with diversity, faces ever-turbulent geopolitical dynamics. “This situation demands legislative leaders at the local level who are not only competent in carrying out budgeting and legislative functions but also possess a deep national vision,” he said.
The retreat will be attended by 557 DPRD Chairs from across Indonesia, including 38 Provincial DPRD Chairs, 93 City DPRD Chairs, 415 Regency DPRD Chairs, and 11 officials from the All-Indonesia Regency DPRD Chairs Association.
Participants are required to arrive on time, attend all activities, stay in the glamping facilities at Akmil Magelang, comply with regulations, complete assignments, and uphold the good name of Lemhanas and their home institutions during the retreat.
The main topics of the retreat cover national values, including developments in the strategic environment, strengthening national identity, national vigilance, enhancing leadership roles, Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, and weaving diversity. In addition, the Asta Cita, Vision and Mission, and President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes will be discussed in depth.
The overarching theme of this event is “Strengthening the Role of Provincial/Regency/City DPRD Leaders to Support Asta Cita Towards Golden Indonesia 2045”. The programme is organised as a strategic instrument for training while ensuring the implementation of the government’s Asta Cita.
