Reason Uya Reports Social Media Account Related to Hoax: Remembering House Being Looted
Indonesian House of Representatives member Surya Utama, alias Uya Kuya, has reported an alleged spread of false news to Polda Metro Jaya regarding accusations on social media claiming he owns 750 kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. He took legal action because he feels harmed by the information deemed untrue. “Because it’s a hoax, remembering the looting of my house was also due to massively circulated hoax videos that were left unchecked. Many old videos from my TikTok were given captions as if they were my statements, even though I never said anything at that time,” Uya stated when contacted by reporters on Sunday (19/4). The PAN politician claimed he does not know the origin of the accusation. He emphasised that he does not own any MBG kitchens as circulated on several social media accounts. “And what confuses me is where the story came from that I have MBG kitchens. Because up to now, I don’t have a single MBG kitchen except for my restaurant kitchen in Benhil called Asli Rasa,” he said. Uya also questioned the motive of those spreading hoax content involving his name again. He alluded to the incident of his house being looted in 2025, which he said was triggered by misleading information on social media. “What more do they want from me? Last time my house and family were sacrificed using hoax videos from my old videos that were added with captions as if they were mine. And the house that was looted last time still hasn’t finished being renovated until now, now I’m being slandered again, why am I the one being slandered,” he said. The police report was made after a post appeared on the Threads platform accusing him of owning hundreds of MBG kitchens. Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Kombes Budi Hermanto, confirmed the existence of the report. “Yes, it’s true. (Regarding) the spread of false news,” said Kombes Budi Hermanto when contacted by reporters on Sunday (19/4). The report was registered with number: LP/B/2746/TV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA. Uya is known to have seen the post on Saturday (18/4), which featured an edited photo of himself accompanied by misleading narration. Feeling harmed, he then visited the SPKT at Polda Metro Jaya to report the case with allegations of violating the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), including articles related to information manipulation and forgery. Currently, the case is still in the further investigation stage by the police.
