Reason Richard Lee Was Detained: Evading Police Summons, Then Going Live on TikTok
Jakarta – Doctor and owner of a beauty clinic, Richard Lee, has been detained after being questioned in his capacity as a suspect in a consumer-protection violation related to his cosmetic products, on Friday (6 March 2026).
“Terhadap tersangka DRL dilakukan penahanan pada pukul 21.50 WIB di Rutan Polda Metro Jaya,” said the Metro Jaya Police’s Public Relations head, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, to Kompas.com on Friday.
Budi explained that Richard was detained because he was considered to have obstructed the investigation. Specifically, he twice failed to respond to summons for examination on 23 February and 5 March 2026.
“Tersangka tidak hadir tanpa memberikan keterangan, justru diketahui melakukan live pada akun TikTok,” Budi said.
Before being detained, Richard underwent examination from 13.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB. In that examination, investigators put 29 questions.
During the proceedings, Richard also underwent a health check by the Metro Jaya Police’s Medical and Health Unit (Biddokes).
Richard Lee had previously been named as a suspect in a case of alleged consumer-protection violations related to cosmetics products and services.
He was reported to the Metro Jaya Police by beauty doctor Samira, known as Doctor Detektif. The report is registered under LP/B/7317/XII/2024/SPKT Polda Metro Jaya.
At present, the matter has moved to the investigative stage.
“Our statement is that the case is already in the investigative stage, and the suspect designation was made on 15 December 2025 for Mr RL,” explained Reonald.
Additionally, he is charged under Article 62(1) in conjunction with Article 8(1) and/or Article 9(1) of Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection, with a maximum penalty of up to 5 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp 2 billion.
Separately, Samira had also been named as a suspect in a defamation case filed by Richard Lee with the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police on 12 December 2025.
