JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - An official vehicle belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government was used by civil servants from the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) to travel to Puncak, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday (4 April 2026), fitted with fake plates.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary, Uus Kuswanto, explained that, based on a report from the Head of BPAD, the vehicle was used in connection with the creation of promotional content for assets.

“Based on the report from the Head of BPAD, the individuals involved happened to be carrying out content creation on the holiday for promotional activities,” Uus said when met at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (7 April 2026).

During the content creation activity there, the official vehicle was also used.

However, the issue arose because the vehicle’s plates were changed from red to white.

“Coincidentally, DKI has one of its assets in Cimacan, so during the content creation, the vehicle was used. The problem is that the vehicle’s plates were changed to white plates,” he said.

When asked why the red plates were removed despite it being an official trip, Uus stated that this is currently being investigated.

BPAD is currently conducting an examination, including the possibility of imposing sanctions.

“Perhaps what is being investigated relates to the reprimand to be issued by BPAD,” Uus said.

The police were suspicious because the plate code is typically used for official vehicles. However, the car was using white plates.

Upon inspection, the driver admitted to changing the plates to avoid drawing attention.

“Just so it wouldn’t stand out,” the driver said.

The police then confirmed that the vehicle is a government-owned one that should use red plates.
