Rear Admiral Edwin has been officially appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), replacing Rear Admiral Erwin Aldedharma. The handover ceremony was led by Chief of Staff of the Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali at the TNI AL Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Head of the Navy Information Service, First Admiral TNI Tunggul, stated that the two officers exchanged positions. Edwin, who previously served as Deputy Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas), replaces Erwin as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy. In turn, Erwin now occupies the position vacated by Edwin.

Tunggul explained that the official rotation within the TNI is part of organisational dynamics as well as personnel development. “To address increasingly complex task challenges,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

On the same occasion, Chief of Staff of the Navy Muhammad Ali also received the handover from Assistant Intelligence KSAL Rear Admiral Akmal and Commander of the Navy Higher Education Rear Admiral Mukhlis. However, Ali has not yet revealed their replacements.

Tunggul claimed that through this leadership transition, the TNI AL will strengthen organisational solidarity, increase the effectiveness of task implementation, and maintain the continuity of ongoing work programmes.

He stated that this momentum of handover and position transfer reflects TNI AL’s commitment to continuously presenting professional, adaptive, and visionary leadership. “With the spirit of Jalesveva Jayamahe, the Indonesian Navy will continue to enhance its best service to the nation and state in maintaining the sovereignty and security of the archipelago’s maritime areas,” he added.
