JAKARTA, Kompas.com - PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) recorded a net profit of Rp 2.93 trillion throughout 2025. This figure represents a 42.5% decline compared to 2024, which stood at Rp 5.10 trillion. The decrease in PTBA’s consolidated net profit in 2025 was caused by global commodity pressures, particularly coal prices during that period. Nevertheless, this MIND ID subsidiary posted improvements in operational performance, with the company increasing production volume by 9% to 47.2 million tonnes, as well as a 6% rise in sales volume to 45.4 million tonnes. PTBA’s President Director, Arsal Ismail, stated that the operational achievements throughout 2025 reflect the company’s business resilience amid fluctuating global coal price pressures. “2025 serves as proof of our operational resilience. Despite the average selling price correction due to a 22% decline in the Newcastle index, PTBA was able to address these challenges through enhanced operational efficiency and expansion of its global market share,” Arsal said during a press conference in South Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026). According to him, although profitability faced pressure from global prices, PTBA demonstrated promising quarterly recovery. This was supported by a solid financial position, evidenced by a 24% increase in operating cash flow to Rp 6.26 trillion. Asset growth reached Rp 43.92 trillion, driven by the addition of strategic fixed assets. Capital expenditure (Capex) realisation of Rp 4.55 trillion was focused on developing long-term infrastructure, including the Tanjung Enim - Kramasan coal transportation project. Entering 2026, PTBA welcomes positively the approval of the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) without any production volume cuts. The company targets production and sales of 49.5 million tonnes this year. Arsal added that the cost leadership strategy through selective mining schemes and supply chain optimisation will continue to be the company’s main engine for maintaining competitiveness. “With a focus on efficiency and sustainable business development while prioritising corporate governance compliance, PTBA is optimistic about maintaining positive and sustainable performance to contribute to the national economy and ensure national energy resilience.”
