Real-World Experience with Wuling Confero ACT 2022: Durable but Fuel-Hungry?
Jakarta – Seven-seater family vehicles remain a popular choice amongst Indonesian consumers for supporting daily activities, including work-related requirements. The Wuling Confero is one of the models frequently encountered on the roads.
Ajo, a resident of Cipinang Jaya in East Jakarta, shared his experience using a 2022 Confero with Automatic Clutch Transmission (ACT) that he purchased new in July 2022.
According to Ajo, one of the main advantages of the Confero that he has experienced is its durability during daily work use. “It is durable for everyday work. The vehicle also feels quite comfortable to use even with high-intensity driving,” he told Kompas.com on Monday (23 February 2026).
However, he acknowledged there is a notable concern regarding fuel consumption. For city driving, fuel consumption stands at approximately 1:10, whilst for out-of-town or motorway journeys it can reach 1:12. These figures are considered rather inefficient for a vehicle in its class.
Regarding performance, Ajo noted that the vehicle’s capability when tackling inclines is quite good, including when used in areas with steep road terrain such as the Puncak region in Bogor. “It handles inclines well according to momentum. If we can maintain engine revolutions and don’t lose power at the outset, the vehicle is still powerful,” he said.
This suggests that driving technique influences performance on uphill terrain. According to him, as long as the driver can maintain momentum and select the appropriate gear, the engine power remains sufficient to carry seven passengers.
The Wuling Confero is equipped with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces approximately 98 bhp and torque of 135 Nm.
