BUSAN, South Korea: For almost a week, Indonesian supporters were mostly contingent members or a handful of Indonesian residents here. Most of the time, the contingent has to rely on South Koreans employed by the Indonesian honorary consul in Busan, Kim Soo-il.
But the badminton match in Gangseo gymnasium on Sunday evening turned out to be an Indonesian day when Indonesia faced Thailand in the men's team quarterfinals.
Most of the supporters were Indonesian workers here and some came from other neighboring cities, such as Ulsan and Daegu.
Waving huge red-and-white flags, they turned the Korean gymnasium into something more like the Bung Karno Indoor Stadium back home, with their loud chanting and yells of support for the Indonesian shuttlers.--JP
