Ready-to-Drink Water Facilities to Be Available in Blok M
JAKARTA - Ready-to-drink water facilities via “water purifiers” will soon be available in the Blok M area, South Jakarta. The provision aims to reach the public in high-traffic crowded spots. PAM Jaya’s Operational Director, Syahrul Hasan, stated that the company is currently prioritising locations with high concentrations of public activity. “At present, we are indeed promoting this in places that are crowded, one of which is Blok M, which we have already captured,” said Syahrul in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026), quoted from Antara. He explained that the drinking water provided comes directly from PAM Jaya’s piped network, not from refilled gallon water. Similar facilities are currently available at several locations, such as DKI Jakarta City Hall, the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, and Transjakarta bus stops. “We are now actually pushing this to many places, but sometimes we face challenges related to aesthetics in a location, because piping has to be done. These technical matters are our shared homework,” Syahrul revealed. According to him, providing these ready-to-drink water facilities is also part of efforts to expand services and develop the company’s business. Currently, PAM Jaya’s piped water service coverage in Jakarta has reached 81.79%. This figure is targeted to increase to 100% by 2029. “By 2029, our target is 19,234 kilometres (pipe length). In 2029, it will be two million customers and the largest capacity of 23,138 litres per second,” Syahrul stated. PAM Jaya is optimistic that the target for expanding clean water services in Jakarta can be achieved in line with infrastructure improvements and increased access for the public.
