PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is accelerating the construction of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Rengat-Pekanbaru section, particularly the Pekanbaru Junction-Pekanbaru Bypass subsection. As of April 2026, the construction progress of the project has reached 76.30 percent, while land acquisition progress stands at 85.08 percent. This toll road section, spanning 30.57 kilometres, is divided into three subsections: Pekanbaru Junction-Rimbo Panjang (5.70 km), Rimbo Panjang-Siak (11.70 km), and Siak-Pekanbaru Bypass (13.17 km). In April 2026, several major works are being carried out in parallel at various project sites. These works include Common Borrow Material (CBM), Separator Layer, Abutment Pile Slab, Spun Pile driving, Lean Concrete (LC), and Rigid Pavement. Strategically, this section will become an integration hub connecting the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road with the Pekanbaru-XIII Koto Kampar section. Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that the acceleration of this section’s development is part of the company’s commitment to supporting national infrastructure development and completing the JTTS network. “We continue to optimise construction progress while prioritising work quality and safety on site,” Hamdani explained on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Hamdani assessed that this section will become an important node integrating the toll road network in the Riau region. Thus, it will provide ease of mobility for the public while improving logistics distribution efficiency on Sumatra Island. According to him, the presence of the Pekanbaru Junction-Pekanbaru Bypass section is projected to have an economic impact on Riau Province and surrounding areas. In addition to shortening travel times and reducing logistics costs, the section is also expected to open access to new economic growth centres and reduce the traffic load on national roads. Hutama Karya is optimistic that the project can be completed on target and strengthen the overall JTTS network connectivity. To support the Rimbo Panjang Intersection work on the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Project, which intersects with the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Main Road at KM 16, lane closures and gradual traffic arrangements will be implemented from 2 May to 31 October 2026.
