Reach gets S'pore FBO license
HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA): Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd. and
Telstra Corp Ltd.'s joint-venture, Reach Ltd., has been awarded a
facilities-based operator license by the Infocomm Development
Authority of Singapore.
The FBO license enables Reach to connect to its own cable
capacity in Singapore and to offer wholesale bandwidth and data
services to carriers, service providers and ISPs, a Reach
statement said.
The new license will enable Reach to develop its Singapore
operation as a regional gateway point of presence in Southeast
Asia by offering direct bandwidth connectivity to neighboring
countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
"Although the FBO license allows the holder to undertake a
range of activities, our interests are largely international in
nature. Our business focus is wholesale and our target customers
are primarily carriers and service providers," Reach Singapore
managing director David Phua said.
