'RCTI' to air police story
Indonesia's first private television station RCTI is scheduled to air a serial on city police investigations.
The film, entitled Pedang Keadilan (The Sword of Justice) and consisting of eight 50-minute episodes, will be aired every Monday at 10:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 21, Brig. Gen. IK Ratta told reporters after a premier of the serial yesterday.
According to Ratta, who was responsible for the film making and is spokesman for the National Police Headquarters, the film is meant to inform the public about the legal procedures police follow while on the job.
The serial will star several local film personalities and at least 23 male and female police personnel.
The serial was made with a total investment of Rp 400 million (US$183,000) and took four months of shooting in the Puncak highland and the city.
City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Mochammad Hindarto, who also attended the premier yesterday, commented: "After the broadcasting of the serial on television, we hope that private firms intend to help finance other serials regarding city police detectives." (bsr)
