'RCTI' must stop airing 'Baywatch'
'RCTI' must stop airing 'Baywatch'
From Republika
I fully support the Council of Indonesian Ulemas' call that
airing of television programs called Dansa Yo Dansa, Love and
Life, and Joget be stopped. Yet, there is one program which is
truly vulgar and whose airing must be immediately stopped. What I
mean is Baywatch, a show excessively and openly showing parts of
a woman's body actually not allowed to be shown in public. The
actresses only wear swimming suits, revealing their sexually
alluring body shapes and protruding breasts clearly.
As a woman, I am really offended and humiliated with the
airing of the film. If the television station concerned does not
stop airing it immediately, I wonder where program officers
responsible place their respect for ethics and good manners in
dressing, particularly with regard to women? They should not
place money above everything else just for the sake of earning
greater profits at the expense of the honor and the self-respect
of women.
