Razman Arif Nasution Officially Imprisoned, Transferred to Cipinang Prison
Lawyer Razman Arif Nasution has officially been incarcerated at Class I Cipinang Prison after the Supreme Court rejected his cassation appeal in a defamation case brought by fellow lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea. The North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office executed the sentence on Thursday afternoon, 25 June, for a prison term of one and a half years.
“On Thursday, 25 June 2026 at 16:20 WIB, the admission of one executed individual from the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office, namely Razman Arif Nasution, was carried out,” confirmed Head of Cipinang Prison, Syarpani, when contacted on Friday (26/6/2026), as quoted by detikNews.
Syarpani stated that Razman’s admission was based on the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office Letter Number: B-4374/M.1.11/Eku.3/06/2026 dated 25 June 2026, concerning the execution of a court ruling against the convict.
The execution followed the Supreme Court’s rejection of Razman’s cassation appeal in the defamation case against Hotman Paris Hutapea. With this ruling, the 1.5-year prison sentence imposed on Razman remains in force.
“Rejects the cassation of the Public Prosecutor and rejects the cassation of the Defendant,” read the cassation ruling number 5227 K/PID.SUS/2026, as seen on the official Supreme Court website on Tuesday (19/5).
The cassation was decided by a panel of judges chaired by Supreme Court Justice Yohanes Priyana, with members Noor Edi Yono and Sutarjo. The examination process up to the ruling took nine days.
Background of the Case
The case began in 2022. Prosecutors charged Razman with jointly committing defamation against Hotman Paris Hutapea alongside Putri Iqlima Aprilia.
During the trial at the North Jakarta District Court, the judge declared Razman legally and convincingly proven guilty of jointly, intentionally, and without right transmitting and/or making accessible electronic information and/or electronic documents containing insults and/or defamation on an ongoing basis. The judge also found Razman guilty of joint slander.
Co-defendant Putri Iqlima Aprilia was sentenced to six months in prison and a fine of Rp 100 million.
Meanwhile, Razman was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million. He had previously filed appeals up to the cassation level, but all his legal efforts were rejected, leading the prosecutor’s office to execute the ruling.
