Rawabogo Wooden Bridge to be Replaced with Concrete, West Bandung Regency Allocates Rp 8 Billion
The West Bandung Regency Government is set to replace the Rawabost wooden bridge with a concrete-constructed bridge this year. A budget of Rp 8 billion has been prepared to transform the old bridge to make it safer and more durable.
The Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail, personally inspected the condition of the bridge located in Kampung Babakan Garut, Rancasenggang Village, Sindangkerta District, West Java. He confirmed that the old bridge will be repaired within the year.
“I personally inspected one of the bridges in West Bandung that is quite old. As this is part of the residents’ daily activities, we will address it immediately,” Jeje stated on Friday (5/6/2026).
The bridge, which spans the Ciminyak River, serves as a connecting access for several villages in the Sindangkerta District and acts as an alternative route to Ciwidey in the Bandung Regency.
Jeje noted that the access point, known as Sasak Sancang, which was built in the 1980s, possesses a unique structure with a wooden frame and a zinc roof. This will be dismantled and replaced with a new construction.
“This bridge will be dismantled and rebuilt using a stronger, safer, and more durable steel construction. With a length of 20 metres, we will widen it to 6 metres from its previous width of 4 metres,” Jeje explained.
Asep Indra, Head of the Road and Bridge Division at the West Bandung Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, stated that the replacement of the Rawabogo Bridge is currently in the tender document planning stage. The department hopes the tender process will commence this July.
“We are still in the planning stage for the tender documents, and the target is to hold the tender in July. Currently, the bridge asset must first undergo an assessment by an appraisal team, though that is not within our primary duties. Therefore, the existing bridge will be demolished first,” said Asep.
For the construction of the bridge, the department has prepared Rp 8 billion from the 2026 West Bandung Regency Regional Budget (APBD). “An allocation of Rp 8 billion has been prepared for this year. We hope the process runs smoothly and the physical construction can be implemented soon,” added Asep.
