Raw Malang Reservoir in North Jakarta Lacks Access, Only Has Small Hole
JAKARTA - Residents around the Raw Malang Reservoir in Semper Timur, Cilincing, North Jakarta, are complaining about the reservoir’s condition, which lacks access, making it difficult to utilise.
Saddam, a resident of Raw Malang Village and administrator of RT 09 RW 10 Semper Timur, said the reservoir, built around 2024, is surrounded by walls without doors.
“We as residents here are also a bit confused; there’s a reservoir but no access door,” said Saddam when met by Kompas.com at the location on Monday (20/4/2026).
There is also a section of the wall that has collapsed due to the activities of rogue gangsters in the surrounding area.
The lack of access makes it difficult for residents to enter the reservoir area.
“On that side, the wall is from the toll road, and on this side, the wall is from the reservoir construction. As for the door, it wasn’t designed that way,” he said.
In addition to the limited access, he also believes the reservoir has not been utilised optimally despite being recently built.
“Our hope is that from the government, whether at the provincial level or the mayor’s level, this area can be given more attention so that this facility can be more effective for the community,” said Saddam.
He hopes the government can provide adequate access so that the reservoir can be utilised by residents.
“If it’s just built like this, it’s a waste,” he said.
Residents can only enter through the broken part of the wall.
“This part is broken. People have no access door; no gate was made,” he said.
This condition makes it difficult for residents to utilise the reservoir, including for daily activities such as exercising and as a playground for children.
