Rasuna Said 'Love Lock' Bridge to Feature Modern Design, Here's the Concept

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung plans to build a ‘Love Lock’ bridge in the Rasuna Said area of South Jakarta. The bridge is being constructed as part of the area’s revitalisation to become a new attraction. The plan for two pedestrian bridges is currently being developed by the Jakarta Provincial Government as part of the overall area arrangement. This is an initiative by Governor Pramono Anung to present a public space that is more humane, romantic, and a new attraction, while complementing the completed pavement and pedestrian walkway improvements, said Chico Hakim, Special Staff to the Governor of Jakarta, on Friday. Chico stated that the provincial government is still discussing the bridge construction plan through the Highways Department. He mentioned the bridge will be built using the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget. It is currently in the initial planning stage by the Highways Department, and no exact figure has been set because the detailed engineering design and budgeting process are still ongoing. The construction will use the Jakarta APBD, and we will transparently announce the budget amount once the planning is more mature, he said. Chico conveyed that the bridge will be designed in a modern style. It will be integrated with the newly revitalised Rasuna Said area. The concept is a pedestrian bridge crossing the river, with a special facility for attaching love locks as a symbol of affection. Its design will prioritise modern aesthetics, be pedestrian-friendly, integrated with the new face of Rasuna Said, and be safe and inclusive, he said. Chico revealed that the Highways Department team is currently working on the complete design of the bridge. The design will be published to gather public input. Previously, Pramono spoke about the location of the ‘Love Lock’ bridge in the Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta. Pramono emphasised that the location is not on a pedestrian overpass, but on the bridge crossing the Cideng River right in front of the KPK’s Red and White Building. He explained that the intended location is on the bridge connecting Jalan HR Rasuna Said with Jalan Kuningan Persada. According to him, the bridge can later be utilised as a space for expression for the youth of Jakarta.
