Rasuna Said Car Free Day Cancelled on 28 June, Events Focused on Bundaran HI
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced that the Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, will be cancelled on Sunday, 28 June. The cancellation is due to the series of events for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary and Bhayangkara Day being centred in the Sudirman-Thamrin area, particularly around the Bundaran HI. “Therefore, on the 28th, the Car Free Day in Kuningan or Rasuna Said is cancelled so that everything is concentrated on Jalan Sudirman, Thamrin, and the surrounding areas,” Pramono said at City Hall on Friday, 26 June. Pramono explained that traffic management will be implemented in the Sudirman-Thamrin area to support the smooth running of the two major agendas. “For the 28th, besides the Jakarta anniversary event, there is also Bhayangkara Day. Thus, there will be traffic arrangements for Sudirman-Thamrin,” he stated. According to Pramono, this policy was taken so that public activities and the series of events can be centralised in one area. “Because all activities are centred in Sudirman-Thamrin,” he added. The Jakarta Provincial Government had previously scheduled the peak celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, themed ‘Towards 5 Centuries of Jakarta’, for 27-28 June 2026 in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area.
