RARE SKILL AND EXPERTISE: A man, identified as Wardi from Bantul
regency, Yogyakarta, is busy working on traditional drums, such
as the kendang, bedug and rebana, in his village of Jodog. Such a
business is quite rare now in Indonesia, due to the dwindling
number of craftsmen. Wardi usually takes at least one week to
make one kendang that costs around Rp 300,000. He needs two weeks
to finish a set of rebana that cost around Rp 750,000.
