Rare Moment: Green Line Trains Nearly Empty, Passengers Can Choose Their Seats
Today marks a joint holiday for Nyepi-Eid al-Fitr 2026. Several stations along the KRL Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route, known as the “green line,” appeared noticeably quiet, with empty seats visible on the trains.
Observations by detikcom at Tenjo Station at 07:45 WIB showed the station considerably quieter than usual, with only a handful of passengers waiting for KRL services.
The quiet atmosphere was also evident aboard the KRL trains themselves. The usual crowding was absent, with several empty seats available. Passengers had sufficient space to sit comfortably.
Quiet conditions were also observed at several stations along the green line route, including Parungpanjang, Cisauk, Serpong and Sudimara stations.
By 08:45 WIB, observations at Kebayoran Station also showed the quiet atmosphere continuing. There were no queues visible during tap-out procedures.
Extended Holiday Schedule for Eid al-Fitr 2026
Based on the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) on National Holidays and Collective Leave 2026, today, 18 March 2026, is a collective holiday for Nyepi. Tomorrow, 19 March, is the national holiday for Nyepi, the Saka New Year 1948.
Following two days of Nyepi observance, the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday extends through 24 March. The extended holiday schedule for Eid al-Fitr 2026 is as follows:
