Rare fruit

Rare fruit

From Merdeka

I hope the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bogor Institute of Agriculture will cooperate to intensify the planting of rare fruit trees in this country to prevent rare varieties from extinction.

I believe that some local fruits are disappearing from the market, including kesemek, gowok, kebembem, cereme, jamblang, rambutan si nyonya and lengkeng, to name but a few. In the past these fruits were plentiful in season.

While some of the fruit is very sour and not to everyone's liking, it would be a great loss to the country if this fruit became extinct. At least the fruit could be useful for research purposes. A scientist might one day be able to create new fruit by combining two different varieties.

In the field of fruit culture, we are lagging behind Thailand. Thai scientists have persevered in their research to create fruit with commercial potential. In fact, they got the original seeds from Indonesia.

Let's get to it and save our rare fruit.
