Rapidly Changing Logistics Ecosystem Opens Opportunities for SMEs to Expand into Global Markets
The transformation of the logistics ecosystem continues at a rapid pace, both in Indonesia and in various countries. Digital technology developments, the integration of transport systems, and rising demand for faster deliveries have been the main factors driving change in the logistics industry over recent years.
In Indonesia, logistics transformation is increasingly visible through the implementation of the National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE), which integrates government and private sector services to cut through bureaucratic processes. The digitalisation of warehousing through the use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), along with the growth of third-party (3PL) and fourth-party (4PL) logistics services, has also made distribution chains more efficient.
A similar trend is occurring globally. Various countries have begun adopting smart ports that leverage artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and autonomous vehicles to accelerate logistics flows. At the same time, the concept of green logistics and real-time cross-border tracking systems is further strengthening international trade connectivity.
These changes have also opened up greater opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Increasingly efficient logistics costs, shared warehousing services, and easier cross-border deliveries give SMEs the chance to expand their markets, including reaching consumers abroad.
Amid this transformation, global logistics companies are also continuing to broaden their operational reach to support growing distribution needs. One of these is Lalamove, an on-demand delivery platform that has further strengthened its international expansion by entering the Saudi Arabian market.
Lalamove Officially Begins Operations in Riyadh
Lalamove has officially launched its operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This expansion marks the company’s latest step in widening its international network while strengthening its presence in the Middle East region.
Lalamove’s entry into Saudi Arabia is also said to support the implementation of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in developing world-class logistics infrastructure and diversifying the economy beyond the oil and gas sector through fast, convenient, and affordable delivery services.
The expansion follows the company’s earlier moves into Dubai in 2025 and Berlin in May 2026.
