Rapid Response to Citizen Report on Illegal Gold Mining, Kampar Police Destroy 6 Rafts
Riau Regional Police, through Kampar District Police, continue to commit to cracking down on unlicensed gold mining (PETI) within their jurisdiction. This time, PETI activities on the banks of the Singingi River, South Lipatkain Village, Kampar Kiri Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, were completely eradicated.
Kampar Police Chief AKBP Boby Ramadhan Putra Sebayang stated that the enforcement was carried out after receiving a public complaint through hotline 110 regarding PETI activities at the location.
The information was followed up by dispatching a team from Kampar Kiri Police Sector, led by Kampar Kiri Police Sector Chief Kompol Rusyandi Z Siregar, accompanied by Operations and Intelligence Section Head Ipda Aldriadi, Community Guidance Section Head Ipda Nurman Effendi, along with 12 personnel from Kampar Kiri Police Sector.
Upon arrival at the site, no owners or miners were found. However, at the location, officers discovered six units of non-operational PETI rafts.
“Upon arriving at the location, we found as many as six rafts used for illegal mining,” said Boby in his statement on Monday (27/4/2026).
The police then carried out enforcement by destroying all six dompeng rafts by burning them as a deterrent effect. After ensuring the fire was extinguished and conducting a further sweep along the Singingi River flow to ensure no other rafts were present, the team returned to headquarters with the situation safe and conducive.
This firm action in the field is in line with the directives of Riau Police Chief Irjen Herry Heryawan during the Initial Performance Audit Briefing Stage I held on the same day at Riau Police Headquarters. Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan emphasised that every unit in the region must demonstrate strong leadership and strict supervision.
On various occasions, Irjen Pol Herry has emphasised several key commitments that form the basis of this operation. One of them is the presence of police among the community.
This enforcement is also in line with the spirit of Green Policing initiated by Riau Police Chief. The crackdown on PETI is part of the implementation of the Green Policing programme, where the Indonesian National Police play an active role in mitigating environmental damage and protecting ecosystems from illegal practices that harm human living spaces.
“The public must feel that the state is present through professional services. We encourage a solution-oriented and mitigative approach, but remain firm against violations that damage the environment and break the law,” stressed the Police Chief.
With this enforcement, Kampar District Police hope to provide a deterrent effect for environmental destroyers and encourage the public to continue actively reporting illegal activities to preserve the natural heritage of the Land of Lancang Kuning.
