Rapid Response by 110 Emergency Line of Riau Police: Attacker of Female Student Apprehended, Victim Saved
A man, identified as R (21), was apprehended by police after attacking a female student, identified as F (23), at the Sultan Syarief Kasim Islamic University (UIN Suska) in Pekanbaru. This swift response was made possible by the Polri’s 110 call centre service.
Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, stated that his office received a report regarding the attack through the Polri 110 call centre service. Police quickly responded to the location and successfully apprehended the perpetrator.
“We also appreciate the public for quickly reporting the incident through the 110 service, so that personnel immediately moved quickly to the location and secured the perpetrator,” said Pandra to reporters, Thursday (26/2/2026).
Thanks to the rapid response of the 110 call centre service, the victim’s life was saved. The victim is currently receiving intensive care at a hospital due to stab wounds to the head and arm.
“We urge the public not to hesitate to use the 110 call centre if they see or experience a crime. Even the smallest information is very helpful for the police in maintaining security and order,” he added.
The bloody incident occurred at around 08.30 WIB this morning. At that time, the victim was waiting for her thesis defence on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Sharia Law.
The perpetrator is suspected of having planned this sadistic act. The perpetrator, who is also a student at UIN Suska, came to campus carrying a sharp weapon and suddenly attacked the victim.
“The perpetrator immediately approached the victim and caused the victim to suffer injuries,” he said.
Thanks to the swiftness of other students and security personnel, the perpetrator was immediately secured. Meanwhile, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital.
“After the incident, thanks to the cooperation and role of students and security personnel, the perpetrator was secured and the victim was immediately taken to RS Bhayangkara Kota Pekanbaru,” he said.
Motive for the Attack
The initial examination of the perpetrator revealed that the attack was allegedly motivated by revenge and resentment. The victim and perpetrator had a close relationship.
“The victim and perpetrator knew each other and had a close relationship,” he said.
For his actions, the perpetrator, identified as R (21), was charged with Article 269 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning abuse.
“The penalty is 12 years in prison and the suspect has been detained to be held accountable for his actions,” he concluded.
